Camping skills to pay the bills #2: Kindergarten Tactics

We heard a rumor.

Apparently there is a chance there will be snow in Lake Arrowhead in November.

I know, I know, it seems weird to be thinking of snow right after our long weekend playing in the sun. But like it or not, fall is here people.

Not sure how much snow there will or won't be in November, but being the good girl and boy scouts that we are.. obviously, we need to be prepared for all variables.

And we're not talking about scarfs, hats or blankets. We're talking about snowball fighting skills.

Remember kindergarten days when boys if you liked a girl, you pulled her hair or girls if you liked a boy you would try to kiss him on the playground?

Yeah, snowball fights as adults are kinda like that.

Apparently snowball fighting has seriously evolved since we were little. Check these out. I might have given these to the nephews for Christmas. I can vouch, they are awesome. If one of you shows up to arrowhead with one of these.. I call dibs on your team.

Sure they accidentally got married that one time... but if ever two people were just meant to be friends it's Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy.

Therapist/Patient
Dating coach/Dating disaster
Fake boyfriend/Fake girlfriend
Blackmailer/black mailer-e?

Just like many friendships Jack and Liz's relationship swings between antagonizing each other to being each others closest sounding board. Typical stuff.

Countless times Liz has sacrifice her pride to save Jack (awkward dancing at his business retreat) and in turn Jack repeatedly coaches Lemon through her numerous dating disasters and neurotic intimacy issues (pick any episode).

But to quote Jack "Lemon, I honestly don't know what I'd do without you."

So congrats Liz and Jack, open a bag of Cheesy Blasters to celebrate 'cause you are our 2nd official PlusOne couple.

Blergh.

Leaving on a jet plane...

We've been getting requests for travel information since many of you are looking at plane tickets.

So here ya go..

1. If you are flying in, we recommend flying into the Ontario, California airport. It's approx 1 hour from the camp and it's the closest airport.

2. LAX is the next best option, but it's about 1.5 hours from the site (not factoring in traffic).

3. Long Beach, John Wayne and San Diego airports are fine, but are a bit more of a drive.

Friday night activities will start around 8:00 and church on Sunday will most likely end around 4:00 with a light lunch after.

We'll keep everyone posted as more details from the weekend are finalized, but hopefully this will help those of you who need to book travel!

Midnight snack

Okay, so technically all meals for the weekend are included in the price.. and technically this wouldn't be considered an *essential item to bring with you...

BUT, and we're just throwing this out there...

If someone HAPPENED to bring this camping grilled cheese maker with them and they just HAPPENED to make us a midnight cheesy, bready snack..

We wouldn't complain.

Camping skills to pay the bills #1: S'mores

We've all had one. The brilliant combo of graham, chocolate and gooey toasted marshmallow.

But not all s'mores are created equal..right?? It takes some skill and a little creativity to get it perfect...

Why is this even relevant to PlusOne Weekend?

Well... think about it... you are standing around the campfire Friday night... you see someone cute you want to talk with.. CLEARLY they need a s'more made by you... right? You now have an instant ice breaker.

Time to bring your A game.

**Dark chocolate, peanut butter cups, nutella, flavored marshmallows, bananas.. the possibilities are endless...unless of course they want the classic, then it's just up to you and your marshmallow toasting skills.

But no need to worry, this is when all of those nights making faux s'mores over your gas stove will finally pay off.
